Rationale
It is estimated that by year 2030, about one in every six persons in the world will be 60 years of age or older. This proportion will increase to one in every five persons by year 2050. Accounts abound to demonstrate that older people have always contributed to the overall well-being of families, communities and societies at large. Thus, preparing for old age and caring for old people is important to us as humans. SamuelDEBORAH Foundation therefore assumes the responsibility of adding value and caring for older people and ensuring that persons of all ages enjoy their human rights, live with dignity, live long and healthy lives at old age.
Objectives
SamuelDEBORAH Foundation exists to achieve the following objectives:
- Provide research evidence and knowledge translation to appropriately understand healthy ageing across the life course.
- Advocate in reducing and eliminating ageism with the focus of optimizing the functional ability of elderly persons so that they can do what they value throughout their lives.
- Develop interventions and solutions that deliver person-centred integrated care and improve the well-being of elderly persons and other population groups across all ages.
